SIGN OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY-SELF LOVE/DISCERNMENT

Psalm 139:13-14 (NCV)13 You made my whole being;    you formed me in my mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.    What you have done is wonderful.    I know this very well.

1 Corinthians 14:33 (NCV)33 God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace. As is true in all the churches of God’s people.

If you celebrate your differentness, the world will, too. It believes exactly what you tell it—through the words you use to describe yourself, the actions you take to care for yourself, and the choices you make to express yourself. Tell the world you are one-of-a-kind creation who came here to experience wonder and spread joy. Expect to be accommodated. (11)”

When writing about spiritual fruits, I struggled with the idea of "self love" being a sign of spiritual growth. We all have heard the phrase - "if you don't love yourself, you won't be able to love anyone else".  So true.  Is self love "selfish"? Focusing too much energy on ourselves versus spending our energy on others?  The key to self love is "balance" and "reflecting God's love for us". God has made us the unique, beautiful individual that we are.  Are we supposed to remove ourselves from situations/people that invite confusion in our lives? Keep us from the purpose that God wants us to obtain for his glory? Influence us away from our Christian beliefs? Honestly, I believe yes.  "Be of the world, not in the world" (Romans 12:2)

FATHER GOD - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR WORD, YOUR LOVE FOR US. HELP US TO DISCERN HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS FROM RELATIONSHIPS THAT CAN TAKE AWAY OUR PEACE,  , OUR BELIEFS IN YOU, AND THE PURPOSE YOU WANT US TO ACHIEVE . THANK YOU FOR LOVING US SO MUCH THAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE "EXACTLY WHO WE ARE". GIVE US STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO STAND UP FOR YOU AND LOVE OURSELVES AS "YOUR CREATION".
