9 Signs of Spiritual Maturity - Humility

1 Peter 3:4 (NCV)4 No, your beauty should come from within you—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that will never be destroyed and is very precious to God.

Every person that you meet knows something you don't; learn from them.”
― H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Through reading and research, I am more convinced that humility is one of the most important spiritual virtues. When we operate with a prideful spirit, we experience resistance, but if we operate with a spirit of humility, the world will come to our aid. And more importantly, the Almighty will come to our aid.

The spirit of pride never wins. The spirit of humility is undefeated. We can’t lose if you operate out of a humble heart. Will we be taken advantage of on occasion? Sure. But God will honor us. Will you have to eat some humble pie along the way? Absolutely! But the net result will be the favor of God.
It was by no accident that Jesus Himself washed in deep humility the feet of his disciples before the Lord’s Supper and then asked them to do the same with each other.

Humility shouldn’t be taken for being "passive" or "dependent".  "Passiveness" comes from frailty, from helplessness and fear of not being persecuted.  People often take this attitude of bowing in false devotion for genuine humility.

Humility is the very opposite in fact: it is a quite noble attitude, it is respectable, uplifting, ineffable, divine; it is the attribute of individuals who are strong and wise. Can you think about people in your life that are very strong but humble at the same time? I can and its very easy to respect what they say and do.  Humility means to profoundly and sincerely admit the value of the fellow people.

FATHER GOD - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CHANCE TO LEARN AND TOUCH OTHERS AROUND US. IN OUR WORLD OF PRIDE AND "GETTING AHEAD", REMIND US THAT YOU  GIVE US WHAT WE NEED. WE DON'T ACHIEVE ANYTHING ON OUR OWN MERIT. HELP US TO THINK OF OTHERS MORE, AND OURSELVES LESS.THANK YOU FOR OUR LESSONS THAT WE LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING HUMBLE. AMEN
