Empathy - Celebrating and Respecting Differences

Finally, all of you should be in agreement, understanding each other, loving each other as family, being kind and humble. 1 Peter 3:8 (NCV)

“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.”
― Ernest Hemingway

I was trying to decide what would be a good topic for this week's group at school with the ALE teens. As we watch the news, seeing terrorism, racism, random acts of violence; its not hard to believe that the true act of "empathy" between people is dying. If differences are focused on, then it seems that hatred must follow nowadays. As Christians, it seems that it is more important now than EVER to display compassion and empathy.

Challenge for  this week: Let's listen with our hearts more this week and model Christ's example of being drawn to help others up instead of focusing on differences and putting others down
